Bruce Lee was probably one of the first people who used Kung Fu in film to come up to the US and Canada, so it was very original so everyone wanted to see it. He also mixed different styles together to make sort of his own style, which also got people interested. Finally; he was a legendary fight choreographer with amazing fight scenes which could get anybody's blood pumping.
Bruce Lee was a perfectionist. He worked very hard, and practiced until he perfected what he was doing and never wasted any time. He is also known for is true ability to perform martial arts; He had lightning quick speed and powerful moves.
Bruce Lee was a great martial artist who loved what he did. He was very committed to whatever he did and pursued his dream. In the 60's and 70's martial was starting to come to the western part of the world more than it was, it was growing and his movies helped because everyone wanted to be a "ninja" and be able to do what he could.
Bruce Lee was a perfectionist. He loved what he did, and he showed people his style of martial arts was good. they could use it in everyday life, and it was not choreographed.People remembered his martial arts in his movies, because of the way he did the martial arts.He was super fast, and he had true talent for what he did. He became so popular because people could remember his movies, and his style. His movies were adreline packed, and that made people want to watch more.

I posted a response before this. The second one actually. It just didn't show up...
Bruce Lee (李小龍), with his fierce determination, unmatched skills, and acting talent, helped bring Martial Arts permanently in to the mainstream. Bruce Lee made it clear that he was one of the best. The sounds he made became a stereotype of Kung-Fu, the style of his movies became the standard, his movies made the average Joe want to go out and learn Kung-Fu. Bruce Lee was inspirational and a permanent staple in pop culture (He even had a Pokemon made after him!)

He impressed the producers so much with his lightning-fast moves. He got his start in America as Kato, the sidekick in the 1960’s TV series The Green Hornet. Later he went to Hong Kong and found kung fu movies and used his flashy moves on camera in the movies such as the Way of the Dragon (1972), The Big Boss (1971) and Marlowe (1969).Bruce lee was a role model to all martial arts learners. he had his own original style of fighting not seen before. He was one of the best of what he did and there are many films to prove why he is a part of martial arts history.
bruce lee,or lee jun fan, was a pioneer of the martial art influence on the west, became popular for his excelent fighting styles, and his impecable skill, created pulse pounding scenes with the fact he could do this in reality.
Bruce Lee was a very well renowned martial artist. In 1967, he created his own fighting style according to his own martial arts phiposophy, which he called Jeet Kun Do.Jeet Kune Do is primarily an open hand system. The system works on the use of different 'tools' for different situations. Jeet Kun Do is composed of more than just striking techniques, there are also alot of trapping and grappling techniques. Bruce Lee's martial art is composed of many moves that are derived from other martial art styles.
Btw Wheeley is me.......me is Jarrid.
Bruce Lee seemed to have much more than many other martial artists have today, focus and dire passion, along with talent. He worked hard doing everything. He perfected his moves, body, and mind. He truly had become one of the best martial artists.

I personally did not like the movie. I'm the kind of person who thinks "If someone doesn't die in the first five minutes, it's not a good movie" I would have rather watched it in it's original language with English subtitles. That way I would have been more interested because I had to read something. The plot was good but it is an old movie so everything can't be perfect. I did like how he kicked the guy into those boxes when the people who worked at the restaurant wanted Bruce to show off his moves.

i thought the movie was great for its time. Bruce Lee is a great martial artiest and when Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee fought i thought that was a really good example of moves and techniques. i found that the hole shoulders sticking out in weird ways cool because well for one not many people can do that and two i can do it as well but only on one shoulder so it was interesting to see.

Personally I thought this was a well shown movie but also in overall it was a very good movie. Compared to other movies involving martial arts this was a very good display of techniques and spirit. It was especially astounding when Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris fought because I thought they each brought their own style of techniques and I really enjoyed their battle. And the movie also had some funny parts which were entertaining. The story behind this movie was well done as it had a great beginning, middle, and end. Summing everything up it was a great movie with a good story and a great display of techniques.

It was a pretty good movie, in my opinion, especially with the ridiculous English voice-overs. It gave it that "Old Kung Fu Movie" feel. The fight scenes were quite epic, and usually funny. My favourite part was just the hilarious coincidence of when the sniper was about to take the shot at Bruce, and the clock struck midnight, because just as it happened, the bell rang, and everyone got up. It was like, everyone avoided the shot, literally saved by the bell. Hopefully we watch more movies, it's a nice change of pace.

Bruce Lee was one of the first publicised martial artists of the 20th Century , putting Martial Arts into mainstream , branching out to form MMA , UFC and wresting into a very popular sport world wide. He was inspirational from the moment he stepped on screen to the day he died. His core intent was to publicise martial arts and his own martial art , and to teach the effectiveness of un-weaponised combat.

The thing about Bruce Lee is that he had great raw talent as a martial artist. Not only that he also wrote his own book about the Bruce Lee way. Bruce Lee was only 125 pounds yet he can kick with the intensity of some twice his size. He was clearly passionate and always "Seeking perfection of character". Likely one of the things that influenced his fame was film making. He was one of the first to bring martial arts to the silver screen. Bruce Lee is incredible to say the least. Truly some one to be remembered for years to come in the world of martial arts.

Martial Arts, and Eastern ways and philosophies were widely introduced to the Western world via Bruce Lee. Through his movies, ways of life, etc. he showed us how we could strengthen our mind, body, and spirit through the use of such arts and ways. His natural ability and talent stood far above many and influenced generations to begin and carry out the practice of martial arts. Even today after his death he is still looked up to as a hero and champion of the martial arts world.
Bruce Lee popularized martial arts, and the entire kung fu movie genre to the entire western world. He showed people what the body was capable of with his demonstrations of power and speed, and also through his movies. His are probably the most well known kung fu movies of all time totally because of his part in them. He is widely regarded as one the best martial artists of all time.
Who is Mooly?????
Bruce lee was one of the origonal martial arts movies. I enjoyed it, it was odd that the mouthing didn't match up with the words but it is old and they dubbed over the sound and stuff. I think that bruce lee is almost so good in martial arts that it looked kind of unreal, like he can bairley move and still get so much power behind the attack, i think that was cool. I didn't really understand why the cat was there just kinda chillin but that's okay lol

ps sorry this is late but i kept forgetting :P
Bruce Lee had a lot of talent when it came to Martial Arts, his popularity climbed in the 60's and 70's due to the fact it looked and probably was very real. The way the fighting was done made the film interesting to watch. His personality comes into play when he gestures with his hands and the way he speaks. It seems almost cocky and confident of himself until the ending when Bruce covers Chuck's body and makes it seem like he is almost upset by Chuck's death. -Sami Francis
Martial arts movies were very popular in the late sixties and early seventies. English dubbed Hong Kong Kung Fu movies were especially popular. This was because they were new, exciting, exotically mysterious and fresh.
Bruce Lee was not only an influential master martial artist who started teaching when he was in his early twenties but he had also been acting since he was a small boy. This meant he was talented and authentic and his acting style was natural and not forced or fake.
Besides his movie stardom, he was influential in the martial arts community and created his own style. He was always evolving and improving the way he trained.
He was by far one of the best in an already popular field.
Logan Miller
Bruce Lee is a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.
Also, Jake Crawford is a cool guy, too! And a great sensei! You should feel honored!
Good luck to the next gen of Lockview Martial Arts students!
Osu.
Bruce Lee never mastered any art therefore never gained any belts whatsoever whereas Chuck Norris is an 8th Degree Black Belt Grandmaster. People like Anderson Silva is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo and a yellow rope in Capoiera and a winner of Pride and UFC championships whereas Lee never really ranked up.
No doubt Bruce Lee was a graet martial artist. At the time there was no martial arts in cinema so when he made this movie and brought it to North America people had seen nothng like it. Nobody had seen what martial was and what you could do with it. The fast movements and different techniques that he could do surprised people and got them into the movie. Mix that up with other martial artists at the time ie Chuck Norris and you have fast paced, epic fight scenes to the death. The kind of thing that got anyones adrenaline, blood, intrigue and fantasy pumping. Now that the martial arts are being seen as something spectacular, this led to even more movies being made by both him and other directors that feature martial arts, like the karate kid that will be remembered and really start to kick off martial arts in popular cinema.
Bruce lee was proably so popular in the 60's and 70's because martial arts movies and martiel arts were a new and interesting thing. Not to mention the fact that he completely devoted himself to his art and pushing his physical limits.

Humans have been fighting and arguing since the beginning of mankind. & before modern science it was survival of the fittest. It's in our blood.
The 60's and 70's is really when Martial Arts took over the world. Bruce Lee was a big part of this, he brought something fresh to the table that the traditional boxers of the time couldn't bring. Flying kicks and intricate movements. He was dedicated to his art, and selflessly shared it with the world- perhaps costing him his life.
The movies motivated others to 'try these things at home', and who doesn't feel awesome when they smash the tv with their foot. People wanted to learn how to do what Bruce Lee did, they took up martial arts and Bruce Lee was their inspiration.
Bruce Lee became so popular in the 60's and 70's because he came along at the right time, with the right attitude and the right skills- and thats all there really is to it.

(not so voiceless anymore)
Bruce Lee was so popular in the time of the 1960's and the 1970's because he was a phenom a legand in the martials world. He took what he believed in and he fought for it even if not everybody believed in what he was doing. He brought the world or Martial Art's and introduced it to North America.I believe the people liked him so much because he brought something new that was never really famous there and exposed it to the world. The fact that it was new made it even more exciting to see and watch Bruce Lee in his movie's. He not dout was a legend in the sport and no one would dare question his love for it. He was a man of strenght, dedication and passion for Martial Art's three qualities that I belive anybody could fall in love with. He also was know for taking differetn styles and types of Martial Arts and make his own which would of also brought him into the public eye. These are just some of my feeklings and thoughts on why I believe Bruce Lee was so popular in those times.
Bruce Lee was famous in the 60s and 70s because he was one of the first people to bring martial arts in to the public eye. The public was hungry for martial arts after they saw Bruce Lee's moves.

Bruce Lee made an impact in the media because he brought martial arts to the screen. It was the first time that people could see martial arts on a telivision screen which made his movies very unique.
Bruce Lee Made a name for himself at first because he took his knowledge of Kung-Fu/Martial arts outside of china. His masters frowned upon him for his actions and left him with infamy around china. Bruce though, left for the western part of the world where martial arts were not very well known. His fame took a turn when he released a few self directed movies showcasing his talent. this being the 1960's/1970's of course, people were thrilled at the idea of fending off gangsters/boxers and professianal fighters with this style Bruce Lee demonstrated. He later developed his own style of martial art which he taught to students he had picked up in the west. These above factors all layed a part in magnifying Bruce's famy across the globe, from his infamy in china, to his famy in the west part of the world up unitl his death in 1973 where he is still considered a legend until this day.
This is Daniel,
I believe that Bruce got most of fame from his movies. It depicts a humble man on a mission to protect the establishment from the bad guys. In doing so he is constantly on the defense moving to his enemy's moves. People then see his martial arts in movies where he is humbly winning on the defense, people then see this and want to become like him. Ripped out of his mind he gained his notoriety in north america from his movies and when he did finally come here many other forms of martial art have come to the region. The others who see Bruce as nothing more than a face for special effects and people taking dives to make him look untouchable then challenged him to perform. Bruce had to defend himself and in doing so he furthered his name for himself.
It is sad that is life had to come to a short end. I wish I could have met him, my boxing coaches husband knew Bruce Lee personally and has pictures of them sparing.
I found the movie interesting and entertaining, there where several different styles of martial arts displayed here and it was quite interesting in the way only 70's movies can be. There where also some underline problems of the period such as the almost immediately acsess to both guns an weapons. Also there seems be underline problem of gang controls of the time. It isn't really a question of why, this movie was so problem but rather a question o why it isn't more popular. I deffenitly enjoyed the moment and hope we watch more of Bruce Lee's work in both directing and acting in class.
Amy.
Bruce lee was extremely popular in the 60's and 70's because he brought something we'd never really seen a lot of to the table! The way he went against traditional ways and brought karate somewhere new showed that he had plenty of courage, which people just eat up. Obviously though, most of his fame came from his movies. (And his shirtless scenes).
Bruce Lee's fame came from something new brought to our traditions. As we know, Martial Arts originated in Japan, but it was Bruce Lee who made it famous. It was so popular because it was new to Americans and Americans thought it was a unique way of fighting and defense. Bruce Lee studied Martial Arts as if it was his life and his hate made him famous. Masters frowned upon him bring it to other parts of the world, but when Lee say the opportunity of making a change, and bringing something new to the table he went for it. Really, without Bruce Lee, we may not have Martial Arts here today. His fame came from his movies, his techniques and his hate after bringing it to other ground. But, you still have to respect Lee for his courage, clear mind, respect and character.
Bruce Lee is an example of mixture of different martial arts used in situations (even though some might be exaggerated ) and represent the perfect symbol of a martial artist in the film making industries and commercialization of the art.
I believe some things might be over the top in the movie, bu in overall I believe Bruce Lee did commit his life to martial art and perfection of character.
Bruce lee was... lets say was a Perfectionist. he knew many things and did not gloat even though he could play ping pong with same size nun-chucks he used in the movie. He worked very hard to get where he was which led vast want in teaching simple "westerners" the way of karate and other martial arts and was booming in the 70's until he pasted away. Some even say hes the father of MMA either way i wanted to become a Ninja when i was little and he aided in that so i give props to him and im going to be what he said in a lot of his speeches, im going to flow like water
how do you comment on a comment? ..... anyhow Nick Kelly. most masters did frown a upon him but it was either the first or second martial arts he did Wing Chun his master Ip man as i know from the movies hehehe did agree with him because he thought of the art as a way to keep healthy and clear the mind not really as a fighting tool. just wanted to say that....
Bruce lee started in the movie business early and by the age of 18 he had stared in 20 films. He started training in Kung Fu when he was 13 and never stopped doing it even through collage it helped him with some of his subjects like English. He left behind his acting career and started opening martial arts schools all over the US.
In my point of view, Bruce Lee and his style's attractions came from its simpleness. His style focuses on being effective, which enables people to learn it fast and easy. The fact that he is one of the first person to accept western students and uses movies as his propagandas, of his real skills, also helps his popularity, as a lot of people are very interested in the eastern culture but couldn't find a way to learn it. I think Bruce Lee is as much a martial artist as a commercial genius, he spotted the high demands for eastern martial arts in the western world. The fact that he is very hardworking and perfectionist also made him more successful than ever.
-Lee
I think one of the main reasons why Bruce Lee became so popular in the 60's and 70's was because back then, martial arts movies were new to most of the world. People saw the movies and thought they were really exciting and action packed because they have never seen other movies like that before. Bruce Lee also had his own unique style which many people thought was cool. He was a very strong and determined fighter and many were inspired by him.
In My opinion, Bruce Lee was a brilliant fighter, who really brought out the "art" bit of martial arts. He helped start martial arts movies, and since then it has grown into an extremely popular genre, with a massive fan base.
Bruce Lee was so popular in his time because he was a very skilled fighter, one of which had almost never been seen before in the US. He also pushed the message forward that the Chinese-Americans are not the weak, subservient people that they were thought to be.
Bruce lee became so popular because he brought his variation of Chinese Kung-Fu to the United States. He was very skilled in this fighting style which used simple yet effective techniques. the US loved it and him. It amazed them because they had never witnessed this style of fighting before.
Bruce Lee also wanted to show that Chinese Americans were not weak and subservient individuals that others thought them to be, but in fact that they were strong. and he was able to in all of his movies and after he opened up some schools teaching people his art.
